Merlin

Rehab history
Came into rehab in the fall of 2008 as a first year (passage) bird. Became an education bird in the winter of 2008.

Story

This Merlin was found on the roof of a one story building in a very developed area. It had probably been hit by a car, since it had damage to both wings and was very dazed. Since Merlin generally do not nest in this area, it presumably was migrating south for the winter when it was hit. Unfortunately, it never recovered reasonable flight capability. Extremely calm (and quiet) for a Merlin, we look forward to many years of working with this bird. It has done surprisingly well every time it has been in public, and it’s training is progressing quickly as it settles in to it’s education role.
