LEO Long Eared owl

Why the name?
Because he is a “L”ong “E”ared “O”wl.

Rehab history
Leo came into rehab in Winter 2001, and moved to education status that spring.

Story

One of the loveliest species of owl, Long Eared Owls are not common and are found in Virginia only in the November/December timeframe when some migrate this far south. Leo was found near a road with both wings permanently damaged. Although his injuries prevent his release, he is an outstanding and attractive education bird and is surprisingly calm for a Long Eared Owl.
